Dessert Drinks Healthy Recipes

The I Can’t Believe It’s Not Ice Cream Chocolate Shake

This recipe is so easy that I really hesitate to call it a recipe, but something this delicious is meant to be shared.

I know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but for whatever reason I often have a hard time sitting down to eat it. It might have something to do with the fact that I am usually at work for 7:30 or maybe I have just allowed myself to get into this bad habit, but most weekday mornings I end up packing a homemade breakfast shake along with me to work.

I’ve been making myself a breakfast shake for the better part of the 6 years I have been working, so I am quite familiar with all of the different fruit, veggie, protein and dairy combinations that make a delicious shake. Now, I know I am not the first person to discover the power of a frozen banana, but if there is one common denominator in my shakes, it is the frozen banana. A frozen banana provides such a rich, creamy, luscious texture to a shake that you could swear you were indulging in something much more decadent.

This discovery led me to the following recipe, which I make every once in a while as a healthier alternative to a typical dessert. Whip all of these ingredients together and you will swear you are drinking a chocolate shake made with full fat ice cream. I mean, if you think about it long enough you will realize you aren’t, but this shake is darn tasty and you can drink it pretty much guilt-free, so that is good enough for me.

My one note is that I use a fairly powerful blender to blend up this shake and I am not sure if all of the frozen ingredients would blitz up as well using a lesser powered blender, but really there is only one way for you to find out!

Happy Sunday!
